How to Identify Genuine Hallmarked Gold Jewellery
Identifying genuine hallmarked gold jewellery is straightforward. Here’s what you need to look for:
Hallmark Unique Identification Code (HUID): A unique alphanumeric code present on the jewellery.
BIS Triangle Logo: Indicates certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Purity Mark: For example, 22K916 for 22-carat gold or 14K585 for 14-carat gold.
Jeweller's Name or Logo: The name or logo of the jeweller selling the article.
Additional Stamps: Extra stamps such as a number or symbol to identify the supplier or craftsman (karigar).
An authentic hallmarked jewellery piece will have these stamps. Anything else could indicate doubts about the article's purity or fineness. Insist on HUID hallmarking, which costs only 236 INR at most. This HUID provides complete information about the article, including:
